The inspiration behind this plate was ignited during my recent trip to Singapore. While visiting the Peranakan Museum and being captivated by the rich historical design elements, I decided to infuse a touch of that heritage into contemporary culinary art. The Chinese character "福" (fú), symbolising happiness, blessing, and good fortune, adorning the plate, drew its font inspiration from one of their exquisite batik patterns. This infusion intrigued me greatly due to the distinctive beauty of this traditional Chinese word.
The plate's border is meticulously carved with a traditional Chinese pattern, enhancing its cultural richness. To bridge these two distinctive Peranakan features, I've introduced a subtle organic texture, gracefully complementing the overall aesthetic.
